PulseWatch — Uptime & Status Monitoring Platform
A production-grade uptime monitoring SaaS with HTTP/TCP checks, 90-day uptime analytics, incident tracking, signed webhooks, public status pages and a rate-limited REST API — Next.js, Prisma, Redis, Docker and CI.
Project Overview
PulseWatch is a full-stack monitoring platform that watches websites, APIs and infrastructure around the clock. Users register monitors for HTTP(S) endpoints or raw TCP ports with configurable intervals (30s–1h), timeouts, retries and expected status codes; a background scheduler probes each target, records latency for every check and auto-opens incidents when a monitor goes down — then auto-resolves them on recovery.
The frontend is a Next.js 14 App Router application in strict TypeScript: a marketing site, JWT-cookie auth flows, a monitoring console with 90-day uptime bar strips, a 24h latency chart (Recharts), incident timelines and a public status page per account. A dependency-free Redis RESP client powers a two-tier cache with in-memory fallback, so the same build runs on a VPS with Docker Compose or on Vercel with zero infrastructure.
Engineering quality is a first-class feature: Zod-validated API routes with per-IP rate limiting, HMAC-SHA256 signed webhooks, bcrypt-hashed API keys, middleware session gating, 29 Vitest unit tests over the core libraries (uptime math, check engine, rate limiter, key hashing), multi-stage Docker build and a GitHub Actions pipeline running lint, typecheck, tests and build on every push.
